Teen facing murder charge for shooting that ended with car crash, killed man

Lamar Murray (Syracuse Police)

The Syracuse Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a shooting that killed a man in December 2017.

Police say 16-year-old Lamar Murray faces charges of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the December 8, 2017 shooting that killed 18-year-old Jaquan Moore.

Murray is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center, according to police.

On Dec. 8 police responded to the 600 block of South Geddes Street for reports of shots fired. When they arrived, officers found a car that had struck an utility pole. The driver, Moore, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He died from his injuries shortly after arrival.

Investigators said they determine Moore had been shot while stopped at a traffic light in the area. When he was shot, Moore's vehicle went north and struck the pole.

Police say their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 315-442-5223.
