Two people arrested after attempted robbery in Syracuse

Two people were arrested after an attempted robbery in the 700 block of Cannon Street in Syracuse around 9 p.m. Friday, according to Syracuse Police.

According to the victim, he was attacked by two males who demanded his property and struck him over the head with a handgun. The suspects also kicked the victim in the face and stomach, police said.

The suspects were identified as a 16-year-old male, of Syracuse and Rashief Brown, 24, also of Syracuse, according to police.

The 16-year-old male and Brown were both arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, according to police.

They were both lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending their arraignments.

Police were able to identify the suspects from the victim's description of them. The suspects were located by police in the 100 block of W. Pleasant Ave, police said.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a three inch laceration to the top of his head and was transported to University Hospital for treatment, according to police.
