Two under arrest for robbing 76-year-old woman in front of her home in Clay

Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery in Clay.

According to deputies it happened Sunday, January 6, just before 4:00 p.m. on Winter Park Drive and Soule Road.

Investigators said a 76-year-old woman had just arrived at home, when she was approached by Claudio Mojica, 48, who forcibly tried to steal her purse.

They said Mojica fought with the elderly woman, and after he failed to steal her purse, deputies said the suspect ripped a gold necklace from her neck.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

According to deputies, a neighbor ran to help her and was then threatened by Mojica who said he had a gun.

They say he left in a Nissan Sedan that was waiting nearby. Deputies said the driver of the car and Mojica's girlfriend was identified as 25-year-old Krista White.

Mojica is charged with first degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. White has also been charged with first degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

Deputies said when the pair was arrested they had a small amount of heroin on them. They were additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Mojica and White were arraigned Thursday night. Mojica was denied bail due to prior convictions, deputies said. White is being held on a $25,000 cash/bond.
