Upstate relocates 170 employees downtown, 400 to move by fall
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Relocating from DeWitt to downtown Syracuse; today 170 employees from Upstate Medical University started working downtown.
Their new home is inside the galleries on South Salina Street - an area that's seen a recent development boom. Upstate credits the recent growth and vitality of downtown with the decision to relocate.
"Downtown is a vibrant part of Syracuse and achieving bringing 170 employees today and a final number, 400, is really part of the revival of Syracuse," says Upstate University President Danielle Laraque-Arena.
By this fall 400 workers will be relocated downtown. They'll occupy 60,000 square-feet on the fourth and fifth floors of the galleries.
