UTICA, N.Y. —
Utica is declaring a snow emergency that will go in effect Friday night.
City officials say the snow emergency will be active starting at 10 p.m. and remain in effect until further notice.
The snow emergency dictates all vehicles must be off city streets by 10 p.m. to allow for safe passage of snow removal and emergency servies.
"The Snow Emergency applies to all city streets and roadways with no exceptions," a release by the city said.
City officials also urge people to avoid unnecessary travel on city streets during the snow emergency.
Any vehicles left on city streets during the snow emergency are subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense, city officials said.
