Utica man charged with murder for October 5 shooting

A Utica man has been charged with murder for a shooting death in the city earlier this month, according to Utica Police.

33-year-old Jahari Brown was arrested Sunday on charges of second-degree Murder and second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon for the death of David Davis, 35, on October 5, according to police.

Police say Davis was found at Cathedral Garden Apartments on Whitesboro Street suffering from a gunshot wound that night and was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Police said Brown was identified as a suspect by investigators and arrested during a motor vehicle stop in Utica on Sunday afternoon.
