A registered sex offender in Utica will spend the next 50 years in prison, after he pleaded guilty to sending and receiving numerous graphic pictures of child pornography.

Federal Investigators said Shawn Bunnell, 35 of Utica, used Google Docs and Dropbox to send the images over the internet.

New York State Police said they received a cybertip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Officials said that tip led them to Bunnell, who was identified as a person who had used a cell phone to create child porn.
As part of he plea deal, he had to confess to transporting explicit images of children over the internet between May and August of 2017, and possessing images on his cellular phone as well.

Bunnell pleaded guilty to ten counts of transportation of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

After he is released from prison, Bunnell will have a lifetime term of supervised release, and will remain a registered sex offender.

Bunnell had a prior conviction in 2003, when he was convicted of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree in Oneida County Court for sexually abusing a child under the age of 11.
He was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and 3 years post-release supervision.
