VP Pence to attend fundraiser for Rep. Katko in Syracuse next week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Vice President Mike Pence is planning a visit to Syracuse next week.
A spokesman for Rep. John Katko’s campaign confirms plans are being made for the Vice President to attend a fundraising event for the 24th District Congressman.
Sources confirm for CNY Central that invitations to a lunchtime event are being extended. At this time the Embassy Suites near Destiny USA is the expected location with a V.I.P. gathering to begin before the main event.
This visit would come a week before a Democratic Primary Election to determine who will face Rep. Katko in the November General Election.
A Siena College Poll released Wednesday shows that Syracuse University Professor Dana Balter trails former Syracuse Mayoral Candidate Juanita Perez Williams in that primary race.
The poll gives Williams a 45% to 32% lead with a significant 31% advantage among voters in the City of Syracuse. Balter trails Williams by just 8% among voters polled in the rest of New York’s 24th Congressional District.
