A Wayne County man is in custody after authorities say he barricaded himself inside a home.

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts said Shannon Jones, 32, had a confrontation with someone before he holed up inside a home on Route 104 in Williamson around 2 a.m.

Virts said a woman and five children were inside the home during the incident, which drew a heavy police response including the use of a helicopter.

Authorities believe Jones didn't want to come outside because he has prior criminal charges, according to Virts.

The home where this incident took place is near King Street.

Route 104 had been shut down between Redman Road and Townline Road during the situation, but it has reopened.
