Weather specifics for today, this weekend, Balloonfest & the Zac Brown Band concert
Good morning! Here is what you need to know before you go.
We are waking up to rather clear skies with only a few thin high cirrus clouds. Expect plenty of sunshine this morning with high clouds increasing a bit from south to north later this morning.
It is a chilly start. Sunrise temperatures are in the 40s for just about the entire area, but could be closer to or slightly under 40 near Old Forge and the Tug Hill Plateau. Expect rapidly warming readings through the morning. Temperatures should rise into the lower 70s late this morning.
During the afternoon, expect sunshine to hide behind increasing and thickening cloud coverage from southwest to northeast. The trend will be for the sun to become filtered and dimmer through the course of the afternoon. Skies may become mostly cloudy to finish the afternoon. Most spots should remain dry through sunset. I cannot completely rule out a sprinkle late in the day or by sunset, but it won’t be a big deal.
Temperatures should rise into the upper 70s to lower 80s for Syracuse and much of central New York. Highs should be cooler along the south shore of Lake Ontario.
I have attached a video forecast showing an hour-by-hour progression of today’s weather hour-by-hour and place-by-place across central New York.
The Jamesville Balloonfest is happening today, Saturday and Sunday. Plus, the sold-out Zac Brown Band concert is happening Saturday evening. I have included another video forecast showing the hour-by-hour forecast for the Balloonfest, as well as your “Dog Walking” forecast for today.
