Wet, stormy weather possible Friday: Molly's Forecast 8-17-2018
Grab the rain gear before you head out this morning - unsettled weather continues today.
A system approaching from the west is bringing more widespread rain showers this morning, with some pockets of thunder and heavier rain. Check the radar before you head into work to see where the heaviest rain is falling!
Showers taper some for the late morning and early afternoon. We'll be very humid today, with oppressive, tropical level moisture. There could be a few breaks of sunshine near the lunch hour. Not only will this make it warm and uncomfortable, but could also provide some extra energy for afternoon storms.
Starting around 1-3 PM, we'll likely see some thunderstorms begin to bubble up across Central NY. These will be more scattered and hit-or-miss than the morning rain. However, there could be some stronger, individual cells with downpours, heavy rain and strong wind gusts. Not EVERYONE will see these impacts. In fact, some spots may not even see a thunderstorm. The risk for stronger, potentially damaging storms is there, and you should keep an eye on the radar for ANY plans this afternoon and evening, especially if you'll be outside! As this system gradually exits overnight, we will slowly dry out through the daytime Saturday. Early showers and clouds give way to more breaks of sun and dry time. By the end of the day, we're noticeably less humid and dry. This will continue for Sunday.
