Alabama commissioner Facing Assault Charges After Striking Reporter


DOTHAN, Alabama -- A city commissioner in Alabama is facing misdemeanor charges after allegedly assaulting a TV news reporter.

The incident was caught on video. It shows Amos Newsome striking WTVY reporter Ken Curtis in the face.

Curtis was approaching Newsome for comment about a commission meeting.

Newsome meanwhile has been facing allegations of voter fraud and calls for him to resign.

His bond was set at $500.
