East Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A local freestyle skier died in his sleep Saturday, according to the U.S. Ski team's website.

17-year-old Michael Lillis was reportedly found unresponsive by his parents at his home in East Rochester home Saturday morning.

He was on a break between pre-season training camps, according to the report.

Lillis' two brothers are also freestyle skiers. According to the article, they were at a pre-season aerials camp in Switzerland when their brother died, but will return home to be with family.

"We are a family and as a family our entire team grieves for Mikey, his own family and his teammates," said U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Tiger Shaw.

"We'll remember him for the pathway he was following and the goals he was beginning to achieve," Shaw said.

Lillis orginally came out of the Bristol Mountain Ski Club.
