Monday---New Year's Eve...and Paige's Butterfly Tun presents a check to Golisano Children's Hospital, proceeds from last June's event. The run has raised 3 million to fight pediatric cancer since starting over 20 years ago.

Noon Year's Eve is the kid-themed celebration at Syracuse's Zoo, Monday 10:30 til the noon ball drop...it's free with zoo admission. Several area libraries do kid-themed Monday morning celebrations, as well.

Noon Monday is the deadline to register for New Year's Day Resolution Run..the Syracuse Track Club's 4 to 6 mile run Tuesday at ten....starting and ending at Spaghetti Warehouse on North Clinton Street....

Also New Year's Day, horse drawn rides....11 to 3:30 at Highland Forest. The rides are 20 minutes long.....and continue weekends thru the winter.
---
Tuesday's the start of Onondaga County Parks' winter photo contest...in runs thru the end of January, several categories.

And Tuesday's your deadline to vote on the decorated Syracuse downtown windows....Visit Syracuse dot com has maps and ballots...they'll announce the winner on Wednesday.

Wednesday thru Friday you can recycle natural christmas trees at ocrra's Amboy or Jamesville compost sites, 7:30am to 4pm---same hours all next week, trees must be free of all ornaments and lights.
Many towns or villages and Syracuse city provide curbside pickup

On Wednesday....an AIF/HIV health and prevention fair at the Galleries Library in Syracuse 11 to 1...
---
Starting Wednesday, Syracuse's Betts Branch Library is accepting items to display at its Cabin Fever Quilt Show, which runs the month of February.

And Syracuse's Civil Air Patrol holds an open house and recruitment drive at Hancock Airport, Wednesday 7 to 9.
---
Thursday noon to 7, a blood drive in memory of Taylor Fleming, killed in a car crash on Northern Boulevard in 2011---it's at Cicero Driver's Village.

This weekend is the end of two longstanding holiday traditions. The Syracuse Erie Canal Museum's Gingerbread Gallery closes at five on Sunday...
