Toyota High School Athlete of the Week- A.J. Burnett burning defenders for Bishop Grimes

This week's Toyota High School Athlete of the Week is lighting up the scoreboard.

Literally and figuratively.

A.J. Burnett of Bishop Grimes scored 7 touchdowns in the undefeated Cobras 58-20 win over South Lewis last weekend, so that's your figurative part.

This Friday, Bishop Grimes is rolling in the lights so that their school can enjoy "Friday Night Lights", normally Cobras home games are on Saturday afternoons.

It's Burnett's first season as the starting quarterback, Bishop Grimes had a 4-year starter lead them to the 8-Player Section III Title last season, now A.J. hopes he can lead them to back-to-back berths in that spot.

Head Coach Jason Wait says Burnett is becoming a leader for this team and it only seems to enhance his incredible athletic ability.

Burnett, for his part, says the leadership is a quality he was taught at a young age. In true leadership form, he is quick to give credit to his teammates including star athlete T.J. Bradford.

When Bishop Grimes holds its homecoming with those portable lights, they'll take on Oriskany and hope to improve to 5-0.

Congratulations to A.J. Burnett, this week's Toyota High School Athlete of the Week!
