Toyota High School Athlete of the Week- ESM Bowler Ryan MacCombie

Ryan MacCombie bowled an 854 series, capped by a 298 game for ESM (Matt Hauswirth)

To say that East Syracuse Minoa has tradition on bowling would be an understatement.

The Spartans have New York State Championships that span over decades and under different coaches.

In fact that tradition continues today.

On the girls' side, Haley Youker rolled another perfect game just last week.

For the boys, it's Ryan MacCombie making major improvement.

Before 2018, MacCombie's best series was a 748---which is still incredible. But how he topped it, is simply amazing.

Ryan rolled an 854 series in a recent Spartans' win, yes, 106 pins better than his previous best.

To cap it off, that series was headlined by a near mythical perfect game, a 298 for the star Spartan.

For Ryan, it's the culmination of a lifetime of work.

He says he's been in a Saturday morning league at Creno's Bowl-Mor Lanes in East Syracuse. Now that he's in high school, that hard work is evidently paying off.

His bowling career will continue in college at Cayuga Community College, where no doubt the hard work will continue. Perhaps even, a new career best.

Congratulations to Ryan MacCombie, this week's Toyota High School Athlete of the Week!
