Toyota High School Athlete of the Week- F-M's Amanda Cramer
In 2017 the Fayetteville-Manlius Girls Lacrosse team was just one game shy of winning a New York State Championship. Still a great accomplishment, but for the Hornets it's not about living in that moment.
It's about taking it one step further this season.
So far in a snow-riddled 2018, F-M is a perfect 7-0. This is clearly a team effort but senior Amanda Cramer certainly is one of the leaders of this team.
Coming off a three point game against Skaneateles, Cramer has her eyes locked in for the ultimate prize. “Well , we obviously want to make it back to the state championship this year and hopefully win.”
So far through just five games, Cramer has 35 points (24 goals, 11 assists). Do the math, she's averaging 7 points per game. In lacrosse, not basketball.
Cramer understands the teams wishes and dreams but is not over looking the long season still ahead of them. “You know we just want to be playing our best and going game by game. You can’t spend your whole season kinda hoping to get to the state championship you just got to go game by game and hope it comes out to be the best season you can make it to be.”
A true leader, she credits her teammates for the teams undefeated season thus far. “I think it's just my teammates, we just make each other look good. If one person is not having a good night, another person can have just as many points so I really think it is just everybody on the offense working together well."
The Hornets Head Coach Kelly Tormey praises the Northwestern University commit. “Amanda is so impressive and a lot of what Amanda does doesn’t even show up in the stat book. But beyond her impressive stats she is just the ultimate teammate, if you watch her play she always has her teammates back and always seems to save the day when we need it so she definitely someone we are really lucky to have on the team" she says.
Cramer and the Hornets look to extend their winning streak to eight this Saturday at Jamesville-DeWitt.
