Toyota High School Athlete of the Week- Pete Fiorini III fuels B'ville lacrosse
This week's Toyota High School Athlete of the Week is carving out his own legacy in Baldwinsville.
The name Peter Fiorini is famous in B'ville because of the great coach for Bees lacrosse for decades, now it's Peter Fiorini III making a major impact.
Fiorini III is a senior standout, soon to take his talents to Syracuse University but rest assured he's not thinking about that until he steps foot on campus in the fall.
Right now? Fiorini III has 19 points in four games for the Bees who are off to a 4-0 start. It was Pete that drilled the game-winning goal against F-M on Wednesday night.
The calm in the big moment, the high IQ of the game, it's what Head Coach Chris Wilcox raves about with Pete.
It's been in his DNA from the start.
"I've had a stick in my hand since I could walk" Peter told me, referring to his dad's coaching influence and a life in lacrosse.
Indeed, Fiorini's lacrosse career is just getting started but he brings the knowledge of someone who's had decades in the sport.
Even when asked about goals for his senior season, Peter didn't dive into the easy answer to say winning a championship. He's aware of the focus needed every game and simply replies "to win the next game"
With leadership like that, the Bees might do just that plenty of times this season.
Congratulations to Peter Fiorini III, this week's Toyota High School Athlete of the Week.
