Toyota High School Athlete- Skaneateles hopes Hackler can lead them to glory

Skaneateles star Pat Hackler weaves his way for a touchdown in the Section III semifinal against Canastota (Matt Hauswirth)

This week's Toyota High School Athlete of the Week is the prime example of a student athlete.

Of course Pat Hackler is a star on the field, he has the Skaneateles Football team just a win away from winning the Section III Championship.

It's his work in the classroom that's just as impressive.

Hackler is currently committed to play lacrosse at Yale, of course, to be accepted there says so much about his schoolwork.

But it also speaks volumes of his athletic ability.

Not only is Pat a star on the gridiron, but he's a Division-I caliber lacrosse player as well.

What truly sets him apart, according to Skaneateles Football Coach Joe Sindoni is his leadership. He's an extension of the coaching staff.

The best part, or perhaps scariest for other Class C teams, is that Hackler is still a junior this year. That means another football season and still two more lacrosse seasons to go for the Lakers.

For now, Hackler's focus is on Saturday, when Skaneateles meets General Brown for the Section III Class C Championship.

Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. at the Carrier Dome.

Congratulations to Pat Hackler, this week's Toyota High School Athlete of the Week.
