Oneida Softball is undefeated so far in 2017

Oneida Softball is making its mark in 2017.

Sure, an 8-0 record is impressive enough, but it's a closer look at how the Indians are winning and who they're winning against that's the real story.

For starters, just this week Oneida beat one of the best programs in New York State- mighty Cicero-North Syracuse.

Long story short, their dominance goes well beyond the Pioneer League.

Only three of their eight games have been closer than two runs (wins over Whitesboro, J-D and C-NS) and it's a true team effort.

Hannah Begay, Brianna Laureti, and Kyra Schlotzhauer each have more than seven hits.

Getting past the stats and the box scores, there's a certain maturity and moxie you can hear in each player's voice.

This team expects to win as a team, because they practice like one.

Oneida's next game--weather permitting-- is scheduled against second place Camden on Monday.
