Get to know the next Boeheim's Army opponent: Overseas Elite

The Basketball Tournament

The Basketball Tournament is heating up for Boeheim’s Army. They have reached the final four, just two wins away from victory in a tournament that pays the winner $2,000,000.

After staging a 25-point comeback which could be considered one of the biggest comebacks in TBT history against Team FOE (Family Over Everything), the Army must fight its way through another battle and this one might be the toughest test yet against Overseas Elite.

For perspective, Overseas Elite has won the entire tournament two years in a row and has yet to lose in the tournament period.

Elite has some very notable players like former NBA stars and Pittsburgh alum DeJuan Blair, D.J. Kennedy from St. John's and DeAndre Kane as well as CJ McCollum’s younger brother Errick McCollum. Kennedy is the biggest threat on the inside to Boeheim’s Army. Kennedy is averaging 19.6 points a game while grabbing 10.4 rebounds a game. The second biggest threat is Guard Kyle Fogg who averages 22.8 points a game.

Here’s an inside look at Overseas Elite’s through this year’s tournament: Their first game was a shaky one (for Overseas Elite standards) against Chattanooga beating them only by ten points with McCollum scoring 20 points and three steals and D.J. Kennedy with 14 points and seven rebounds. Their next game was more of a one-sided affair against The Matadores, 78-67, with D.J. Kennedy busting out with 25 points and six rebounds. Elite’s next test was again a team with a Bulls nickname in the Tampa Bulls in the Super 16. That victory showcased the Elite balance with the whole team in teens in points, while The Bulls Dominique Hones had twenty-six points but still wasn’t enough to overcome the 12-point loss.

In the Elite 8 Sunday, Overseas beat Ram Nation by 8 points. Kyle Fogg had a big game with 26 points and four assists. As well as D.J. Kennedy having a double-double with 11 points and eleven rebounds which all leads to the Semifinal Game on ESPN at 9:00 PM on August 1st with Boeheim's Army.
