On Thursday night LSU Head Coach Ed Orgeron reversed course, announcing his top running back Derrius Guice would play against the Orange.

Orgeron, a former Syracuse Football Assistant Coach, made the announcement on his radio show.

Apparently, Guice felt good enough to give it a go. The medical and coaching staffs feel confident enough to let him suit up against the Orange.

The previous thinking was that it would be wise to rest him, with a crucial SEC East matchup against Florida looming October 7th.

With Guice in the lineup, LSU has its top back ready to roll, with their running game clearly setting the team's tone.

Here's our previous report on Guice being out, 24 hours earlier:

With one tweet, Syracuse fans suddenly gained a lot more optimism for Saturday's game with LSU

Ross Dellenger of The Advocate in Baton Rouge reports that Derrius Guice will not play for the Tigers against Syracuse on Saturday.

Guice is a dynamic running back with 57 carries for 300 yards on the season and four touchdowns. Do the math, that's almost six yards per carry and 100 yards per game.

With Guice out, the Tigers will turn to Darrel Williams who also has four touchdowns, just on 28 carries.

Syracuse has been surprisingly stout against the run so far in 2017, not allowing any runs north of 20 yards and only allowing 84 yards per game/
