Ithaca College defends Cortaca Jug with close win over rival SUNY Cortland

Ithaca College's Will Gladney celebrates a touchdown reception en route to the Bombers 24-21 win over SUNY Cortland on Saturday.

After finally claiming the Cortaca Jug in 2017, the Ithaca Bombers defended last year's impressive performance by holding off the rival SUNY Cortland Red Dragons, 24-21, on Saturday afternoon in Cortland.

The Bombers jumped out to a 21-0 lead early, but a furious second half rally helped Cortland climb back into the game.

The difference ended up being a third quarter field goal that helped Ithaca secure back-to-back Cortaca Jug wins.

With the win, Ithaca improved to 8-2 overall in the regular season finale.

The Bombers racked up more total yards (358-to-282), first downs (26-to-14) and won the time of possession battle (33:42-to-23:17).
