New Crunch All-Star: Mitchell Stephens gets the call

There's no argument from Crunch fans, this season has been wild so far.

The theme at the moment? Injuries and call-ups. The story just a week or so ago? An incredible win streak.

Combine those elements and it's been a fun ride for the Crunch faithful. On Thursday, that ride just hit another peak for one of the stars of the team.

Mitchell Stephens was named a North Division All-Star for the festivities in Utica on Sunday and Monday. Stephens replaces Matthew Peca on the team, since Peca is with the parent club in Tampa Bay.

Stephens has been rock solid for Syracuse this season, scoring 15 goals with 10 assists. What's more he brings an ever-present smile and enthusiasm to the ice.

When I spoke with him Thursday, Stephens cited being around such talent with the other all-stars as one of the key moments he's looking forward to.

For the team's part, they still have two more games until the break starting with Belleville on Friday night and first-place Toronto on Saturday night.

Mind you, in Wednesday night's win over Laval, Syracuse had ten rookies in uniform!

The Crunch currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference's North Division but still within striking distance of second-place Rochester while trying to fend off fourth-place Utica.
