Onondaga C.C. Men's Lacrosse receives Championship Rings, names field after Chuck Wilbur

Onondaga C.C. men's lacrosse coach Chuck Wilbur speaks to fans during Saturday's festivities, which included an alumni game and ring ceremony.

There may not be a better sports story in Central New York than the Onondaga Community College men's lacrosse program.

Head coach Chuck Wilbur has created a powerhouse on the Onondaga Hill. In his 17 seasons as head coach of the program, the Lazers have won 10 NJCAA National Championships.

That includes last season's riveting 15-14 finish between the Lazers and Howard Community College.

On Saturday, Wilbur and the team held a ring ceremony to celebrate last season's incredible accomplishment.

"Besides winning that day, this is the second-best day of the year for us," Wilbur responded. "It's always fun seeing the alumni come back and being a part of it. It's a big family. It's been growing and growing over the years, and it's always good to see everyone. What a good day to have the alumni come back and watch last year's team celebrate their championship."

The day began with an alumni game, then followed with a National Championship ring ceremony.

Additionally, the turf field at OCC was renamed to "Chuck Wilbur Field".
