Syracuse Crunch open AHL Preseason with 3-2 win over rival Utica Comets

Syracuse left winger Dennis Yan scored twice on Saturday night, guiding the Crunch to a 3-2 win over Utica to open preseason play.

The Syracuse Crunch picked up with they left off in June.

Coming off a trip to the Calder Cup Finals, the Crunch opened the AHL Preseason with a 3-2 win over the Utica Comets on Saturday night.

Dennis Yan led all Syracuse scorers with two goals on the night, including the eventual game-winner in the third period.

Crunch defenseman Daniel Walcott also scored a goal, while Mitchell Stephens earned two points on the night as well.

Syracuse and Utica will meet once again on Sunday at 5 p.m. The game will be played from the War Memorial in downtown Syracuse.

Sunday's game will wrap up preseason play before the regular season gets underway on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7:05 p.m. in Rochester.
