Syracuse Crunch storm back to force overtime, edge Utica Comets in 11-round shootout

Syracuse and Utica added another chapter to their rivalry, as the Crunch edged the Comets in an 11-round shootout Saturday night.

The Syracuse Crunch were looking to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Utica Comets last Saturday night, as the hometown hockey team switched it up, wearing its road blue jerseys for Saturday's home game.

The Crunch struck first, as Alexander Volkov finished off a one-timer in front of the net, making it 1-0.

But the Comets responded with a goal from Michael Carcone, ending the first period in a 1-1 tie.

Utica extended its lead to 2-1 late in the third period, when Volkov struck again, scoring to tie the game and bring it to overtime.

After nobody scored during the overtime session, the two teams battled it out in an 11-round shootout.

The Crunch won the shootout thanks to a Ben Thomas goal, giving Syracuse the 3-2 win.
