Team Tamurian takes down Team Axe in annual Syracuse Crunch Street Hockey game

CNY Central Sports Director Niko Tamurian poses for a photo following his team's 11-10 win on Saturday.

Three straight years -- three straight losses for Team Tamurian.

The annual Syracuse Crunch Street Hockey game had gone in favor of Team Axe in recent years, but the CNY Central Sports Director was determined to not allow it to happen again.

Team Tamurian scored the first three goals of Saturday's contest, which was played on Montgomery Street outside the War Memorial in Downtown Syracuse.

CNY Central's Justin Page led the way with a 6-point performance (2 goals, 4 assists), while NBC 3 Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar stopped 57-of-67 shots in goal, leading to the 11-10 win.

Team Tamurian's Todd Cross buried the game-winning goal late in the third period, helping solidify the streak-breaking victory.

With the win, Team Tamurian also earned $500 to give to a charity of its choice.
