There's a bit of Central New York in NHL history.

Baldwinsville native Alex Tuch was traded from the Minnesota Wild, who drafted him in the 1st round in 2014, to the expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights.

It's all part of an expansion draft night transaction that included a future draft pick for Minnesota and assurances Vegas wouldn't take certain players in the Expansion Draft.

"It was a little weird at first, I was surprised" says Tuch on being traded.

Alex admits he knew it was possible, with the expansion draft approaching and rumors lingering in the hockey world.

Those rumors fueled by a 21-year old, 6'3" 225 pound forward oozing with potential.

Potential that was too much for the Golden Knights to pass on.

"They (Las Vegas' front office) said we were really adamant about picking you up" Alex recalls of his contact with Vegas officials.

"They see me as a big part of the organization going forward" he adds.

Truly a compliment, a franchise just starting out wants Tuch to be a part of a potential bright future.

Alex probably sums it up best.

"I guess you could say it's a part of history now"
