Bishop Ludden tips off basketball season with annual 'Knight Madness'

Bishop Ludden's Joe Connor celebrates a dunk during the school's 'Knight Madness' event Friday night.

With the high school basketball season kicking off in a couple weeks, Bishop Ludden hosted its annual "Knight Madness" event to get both the community and students excited for the upcoming season of winter sports.

With most of the winter sports being recognized, the event primarily focused around the boys and girls basketball teams.

The student-athletes had their names announced, as they ran through a tunnel of their teammates where they had dances, hand shakes, and for many of the players on the boys team, charismatic dunks to offer the crowd.

After the introduction ceremony of both the boys and girls basketball teams, the two teams broke out into a three-point contest.

The winner from each team would square off in a one-on-one competition.

Michigan women's basketball commit Danielle Rauch would go on to beat the boys team's Nic Button in the finals, 21-19.

The Gaelic Knights boys basketball season begins on January 29th, as they face Mexico at home while the girls basketball team heads to Parish the next day where they face Altmar-Parish-Williamstown.
