C-NS earns Star-Wars sweep in Friday night hoops

We know the Star-Wars rivalry between the C-NS Northstars and the Liverpool Warriors (hence the name) is one of the best and most fierce in Central New York.

So, regardless of the avenue of competition, anytime they meet it's absolutely must-watch action.

That includes on the hardwood Friday night.

On the boys side, C-NS took care of business at home beating Liverpool 72-60. C-NS was led by seniors Justin DelVecchio’s 24 points and Nick Demonte’s 21. After a tight first half, C-NS pulled away in the third quarter outscoring their rivals 20-13. For the Warriors, junior Kyle Caves poured in 13 points while senior Ryan Valentine chipped in with 11. C-NS and Liverpool finish their season series both winning one game apiece.

Cicero-North Syracuse girls beat Liverpool on the road, 65-48. C-NS sophomore Jessica Cook paced the Northstars with 23 points on ten shots while fellow sophomore Julia Rowe chipped in 11.

After both teams were tied at 23 the half, C-NS took control of the game in the third quarter. The Northstars outscored its Class Double A rivals 22-7 en route to the double-digit victory. As for the Warriors, senior Amanda Barnell led Liverpool with 14 points and teammate Karlyssa Shifflett added 10. C-NS heads home to take on Baldwinsville next Tuesday night, while Liverpool stays at home to face Corcoran.
