Christian Brothers Academy delivers girls lacrosse state championship for Central New York

Members of the CBA girls lacrosse team celebrate their state championship win after receiving the hardware Saturday afternoon.

After Saturday's state championship action, Central New York did manage to come away victorious in one sport: Girls lacrosse.

Christian Brothers Academy took down Penfield in the NYSPHSAA, Class A Girls Lacrosse Championship Game from SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon.

After leading 5-3 at the half, the Brothers created a bit of separation due in large part to Grace Hulslander's three goals and Claire Jeschke's three points (2 goals, 1 assist), ultimately coming away with the win, 10-5.

Penfield, a member of Section V from the Rochester area, was on a bit of a cinderella run through the state playoffs, emerging from an early deficit to take down North Rockland in the state semifinals, in overtime, 9-8.

Saturday's win was the fourth state championship in the history of CBA girls lacrosse.
