Gabe Horan signs his National Letter of Intent in front of family and friends at C.W. Baker High School (Niko Tamurian)

Gabe Horan made it official on Wednesday morning when he faxed in his letter of intent to Syracuse Football.

So on Thursday he made it officially official.

Horan held a signing day ceremony at C.W. Baker High School surrounded by family, friends, coaches and the media.

The end result was the same.

Horan gets to play football in his hometown.

"My family was a big part for me" Horan said on Thursday.

"That was really a big part of the decision, that they could just drive to the Dome 15 minutes away. It was a big factor for me when I chose Syracuse" Gabe added.

For Head Coach Dino Babers, Gabe was the first commitment in the Class of 2018, so he has a nickname for Horan:

"Gabe was the first one, he was the first commit in our class. He's number one. Every time I saw him I didn't even call him Gabe, I called him "Number One" and that's how I approached it" Babers said on Wednesday.

"We're really excited that he's in. He's a young man that has tremendous growth potential and he's a fabulous student. It will be fun to see what he grows up in to, because he's a "big one" and "big ones" only get bigger" Dino added.

Horan will enroll on the SU Hill this summer.
