High School Lacrosse playoffs kicked off Thursday

Section III Athletics is officially in postseason mode.

Some sports already kicked off the playoffs but for boys lacrosse, the Section III Tournament officially started on Thursday.

Christian Brothers Academy, the 4-seed, took care of business against Tully 17-7 earning a date in the 2nd round against #5 Marcellus. The Mustangs routed Chittenango 12-4 on Thursday night. The winner of the CBA/Marcellus game on Saturday will take on the winner of top-seeded LaFayette and 8th seeded Cortland.

Cortland edged #9 Jordan-Elbridge 9-7 to earn the right to take on the Lancers. That game is at noon on Saturday in LaFayette.

In the bottom half of the Class-C bracket, Homer made short work of Watertown IHC setting up a fantastic 2nd round game with the 3-seed Cazenovia. The Lakers beat Clinton 19-4 on Thursday.

Rounding out the Class C bracket, Skaneateles beat General Brown 13-4 and with the win the 7th-seeded Lakers will meet #2 Westhill in round 2.
