Liverpool boys advance, Jamesville-DeWitt girls earn another State Championship

The Liverpool boys basketball team knocked off Mount Vernon on Saturday, advancing to the New York State, Class AA Championship game.

High school basketball's post season is nearing its end.

The boys are playing in Binghamton, while the girls are taking the court in Albany.

On Saturday, the Liverpool boys basketball team met Mount Vernon for a chance to play for a New York State, Class AA Championship on Sunday.

The Warriors were able to edge out Mount Vernon, 70-67 behind Alan Willmes, Jr.'s 21 points.

Liverpool advances to meet Half Hollow Hills East in the New York State, Class AA Championship Game at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Meanwhile in Albany, the Jamesville-DeWitt girls basketball team won its third consecutive New York State, Class A Championship, 64-51, over Elmont Memorial on Saturday night.

Gabby Stickle led the Red Rams with 16 points on the night, as four players scored in double figures for J-D.

The Syracuse Academy of Science girls basketball team met Millbrook in the New York State, Class C Championship on Saturday evening, ultimately losing, 67-64, in overtime.

Lyrik Jackson poured in 24 points to go with 15 rebounds to lead the Atoms, while Diamonne Harris added 23 points.
