Liverpool Warriors win first-ever NYSPHSAA Boys Basketball State Championship

Liverpool head coach Ryan Blackwell looks on during Sunday's Class AA, New York State Championship Game in Binghamton on Sunday.

The Liverpool Warriors won their first-ever New York State, Class AA Championship on Sunday, 71-65, over Half Hollow Hills East from Long Island.

The Warriors fell behind early, in fact, trailing by 10 points after the first quarter.

Not to mention, Liverpool trailed by seven points at halftime.

Led by Savion Lewis, a Quinnipiac commit, Half Hollow Hills East looked to be in control of the game throughout the duration of the first half.

But in the second half, with the game on the line, Liverpool relied on Charles Pride's 18 points to lead the comeback effort en route to the State Championship win.

The Warriors finished the season with a perfect 26-0 overall record, winning the program's first State Championship.
