Liverpool's Ryan Blackwell named USA Today Coach of the Year

The honors continue to pour in for Liverpool Basketball in a New York State Championship season.

Head Coach Ryan Blackwell is the USA Today New York State Basketball Coach of the Year.

The former SU star, led Liverpool to the State Title in just his third year coaching the team. In his second season, he led Liverpool to a Section III title.

Blackwell led Liverpool to a 26-0 record en route to the State Championship, the Warriors did fall in the Federation Championship after its state crown was already won.

Blackwell was a standout at Syracuse from 1998-2000, he still owns one of the best buzzer beaters in 'Cuse history in a Big East Tournament win over St. John's.

Ironically, one of Syracuse Basketball's top targets in the Class of 2019 Joe Girard, won the publication's Player of the Year Award.
