Skaneateles advances, C-NS falls short in NYSPHSAA Football Semifinals

Skaneateles used a huge second half comeback to take down Cleveland Hill and advance to the Class C Football State Championship Game next week.

Cicero-North Syracuse and Skaneateles were the only two Section III teams remaining in the New York State semifinals prior to Saturday's action, and now only one will be moving on to the title game.

Skaneateles used a furious second half rally to take out Cleveland Hill in the Class C state semifinal, 63-56.

Pat Hackler, the Lakers junior quarterback, accounted for nine total touchdowns in the winning effort.

Skaneateles advances to meet Holy Trinity Pride in the Class C State Championship Game on Friday, November 25 at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Cicero-North Syracuse met Lancaster out of Section VI from the Buffalo area, and carried a 14-12 lead into the second half.

But that's when Joe Andreesen took over for Lancaster, accounting for two touchdowns in the second half to take back the lead.

However, Conner Hayes had a chance to lead the Northstars on a game-tying touchdown drive, but threw an interception to Lancaster's Max Giordano, resulting in a touchdown and a 35-21 loss.
