Toyota Game of the Week: Skaneateles beats Homer in home-opener

Skaneateles quarterback Pat Hackler threw for 395 yards and 6 touchdowns in the Lakers 56-20 win over Homer

SKANEATELES - The Skaneateles Lakers beat Homer 56-20 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The headlines pregame made for a ton of local interest, Skaneateles is the defending Class C Section III and New York State Champion, while Homer is the defending Class B Section III Champion.

Something had to give, and it was the Trojans.

Skaneateles quarterback Pat Hackler was simply incredible, tossing six touchdown passes with no interceptions en route to the 36 point win.

Hackler threw for 395 yards and on the season has 11 touchdowns with no interceptions.

His main target tonight was Nate Wellington.

The duo hooked up for a pair of 70+ yard touchdown connections (70 and 76) and three touchdowns total on the night.

Skaneateles passed its first major test since moving up to Class B with flying colors, the question now is, who can stop the Lakers?

The next two games are no picnic though, the Lakers host Westhill and Bishop Ludden as part of a four-game home stretch that includes tonight's win and a home date with Syracuse ITC on September 28.
