Syracuse watch party explodes with excitement after NCAA Selection Show calls for Orange

Syracuse sophomore Tyus Battle responds to questions following the good news of the Orange's selection into the NCAA Tournament.

As the moments led up to the NCAA Selection Show, members of the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team gathered in a room to watch from the Carmelo K. Anthony practice facility.

Several college basketball experts did not have the Orange in the tournament, but none of that mattered Sunday night.

Instead, the Orange heard its name called, and the rest was history -- or must-see video.

The team exploded in celebration when the Syracuse block-S logo popped up onto the screen over TBS airwaves.

"It's amazing," Syracuse sophomore guard Tyus Battle responded. "This team plays with so much heart every game, no matter the score, we just kept on playing. We were rewarded for that this year. It's an amazing feeling."

"I think the locker room was the most excited I've ever seen our players in all the years we've been in there," Orange coach Jim Boeheim said. "Most years you think you're in and you're in. But this one, when you're on the edge like this, it's one of those things where everybody jumped.

"It was a great feeling," he concluded.

The celebration video was played across the national landscape, being picked up by nearly all the major sports networks.

Syracuse will meet Arizona State in 'The First Four' play-in game on Wednesday at 9:10 p.m. and will be nationally televised on TruTV.
