Syracuse, Wisconsin cancel future college football series set for 2020-21

Dino Babers and the Syracuse football program decided to step away from an upcoming series with Wisconsin in 2020-21.

Syracuse and Wisconsin have mutually agreed to cancel their upcoming home-and-home series, which was previously set for 2020-21.

Multiple reports indicated the move was "mutual" between the two schools.

The matchup was supposed to begin in Madison, Wisc. in 2020, then return to the Carrier Dome in 2021.

A replacement has not yet been named.

The move comes on the heels of Syracuse finished 4-8 overall for the second consecutive year under head coach Dino Babers, missing out on the post season.

Babers has long been quoted as saying the Orange needs a lighter schedule before it can compete with the top teams in the sport.

Saturday's move to remove Wisconsin from its schedule seems to fall under the aforementioned category.
