The Syracuse Chiefs are moving back the start time for their home opener hoping to dodge unsavory weather.

The Chiefs announced that Thursday's game at NBT Bank Stadium will start at 5:35 p.m. Gates will open at 3:30 p.m.

"Moving Thursday's game back to 5:35 gives us the best chance to play and to keep the integrity of Opening Day," said Chiefs General Manager Jason Smorol. "The temperature will be warm, and we have a perfect window at 5:35 so we can play and celebrate the start of another baseball season in Syracuse."

The Chiefs' "Opening Day guarantee" is still in effect, meaning if the Chiefs are not able to play their game against Norfolk to completion on Thursday, fans will be able to exchange their tickets for another Chiefs game in April.

Additionally, the Chiefs said any fan inconvenienced by the time change can exchange their ticket for any other home game in the 2018 season.
