Abbey Buttacavoli

Anchor

Abbey Buttacavoli joined the CNY Central team in June 2021 as a multimedia journalist.

Abbey comes to us from Northern New York, where she spent two years as a reporter and weekend anchor for WWNY 7News in Watertown. There, she fell in love with the North Country Region while honing her storytelling, video, and editing skills.

Before starting her career in broadcast journalism, Abbey attended SUNY Oswego (Go Lakers!). She majored in broadcast and mass communication with a minor in business administration. During her time in college, she was chosen to be the news director for the college's award-winning student-run TV station WTOP10. Abbey was also the president of SUNY Oswego's chapter of the National Broadcast Society, Alpha Epsilon Rho. Abbey learned from journalists at two internships - Spectrum News in Albany in 2018, and our CNY Central internship program in the spring of 2019.

Originally from Albany, Abbey found a love for news while watching her local news stations every morning before school.

When she's not telling a story, you can find her at the gym, watching funny animal videos, and making her grandmother's homemade meatballs. She loves to attend Syracuse University Football games and she looks forward to exploring more of what Central New York has to offer.

Abbey enjoys meeting people and telling their stories and is extremely excited to be doing the job she loves in an area she now calls home. If you have a story idea or just want to say hi, feel free to contact her through email or one of her social media accounts.
