Lauren Kalil is the weekend anchor and reporter for CNYCentral. She joins our station from WLUK-TV FOX 11 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she worked as the weekend morning anchor and live reporter.
After spending more than 5 years out in the Midwest, Lauren is excited to return to her home state of New York. Lauren grew up in Oneida County and is eager to cover stories in the Central New York communities.
Lauren began her career in Quincy, Illinois shortly after graduating Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Lauren worked as the morning live reporter for KHQA covering anything from severe flooding to local farmers markets to breaking news in the field. She has also worked for the Dan Patrick Show during Super Bowl Week 2014 in New York City and for NBC Sports, the Golf Channel, traveling to The Players and the Women’s U.S. Open.
After just 15 months in Illinois, Lauren moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin to continue her career. Growing up a New York Giants fan, she quickly learned to have a “second favorite team,” The Packers! Working just across the street from Lambeau Field, she spent many mornings interviewing tailgaters, made game-day recipes with local restaurants and even did live segments during training camp as Packers players rode in on bikes with kids in the community.
Lauren also covered anything and everything outdoors. You name it, she’s probably tried it! Hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing, snowmobiling, clay shooting, archerythe list goes on. She has also covered breaking news, severe weather and did live segments from the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills.
This native of Clinton, New York loves to travel and get to know people. Being back in her home state has been a goal of hers since getting into the business. Lauren can’t wait to reunite herself with the Central New York community.
When Lauren’s not at work, you can either find her working out at a CrossFit gym, playing with her Siberian Samoyed, Saber, or planning her next trip abroad. She has traveled to Africa, El Salvador and India where she spent time volunteering and studying photography.
Lauren hopes people feel free to come up and say hello so she can get to know more about the communities she will be working for.
