Lisa Spitz anchors Today in Central New York. Lisa joined CNY Central in 2003 from WUTR in Utica, where she worked as an anchor and reporter.
Lisa enjoys reporting on political issues and says that Election Day is her favorite day of the year! Her favorite story to date included a personal interview with former Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
Lisa grew up in Niskayuna, N.Y. She earned her master's degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and her bachelor's degree in journalism from Lehigh University. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys working out, reading political books, watching SU basketball, baking and spending time with family and friends.
Memorable Story: A man (Joe Smith) was convicted of murdering a teenager in Utica but the verdict was set aside after documents emerged showing that another man may have been responsible for the murder. That man (Earl Wright) was charged and pled guilty to manslaughter. I did an exclusive jailhouse interview with Wright.
Memorable Interview: Each person has a unique story and I take something away from every interview I do.
