Mike Brookins is the weekday meteorologist on CBS5 This Morning and CBS5 News at Noon. You can also find Mike on NBC3, CW6 and at CNYcentral.com. He joined CNY Central in 2005 after working as a meteorologist at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh.
Mikes researched lake effect snow while in college and finds meteorology challenging yet exciting. Mike has named Bill Peterson, meteorologist at WOKR/WHAM in Rochester, as his meteorological mentor. Mike would love to witness a tornado in real life, but from a safe distance of course.
Mike grew up in Rochester, N.Y. and earned his bachelor's degree in meteorology from SUNY Brockport. He resides in Baldwinsville with his wife, three daughters, and two dogs, Sunny and Luna. Mike declares that his wife's dinner table is the best dinner spot in Central New York.
