Samantha Croston joined the CNY Central team as a multimedia journalist in September 2021.
Samantha received her bachelor’s degree from Colgate University in May 2016, but her education didn’t stop there. She then went to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and received her master’s degree in broadcast and digital journalism.
Throughout her master’s program, she gained experience reporting for Mornings on the Hill, a student-run newscast, and serving as an analyst for pregame and postgame shows on the ACC Network. She also has a background in writing and served as a contributor for All Syracuse, a website on the Sports Illustrated network that covers Syracuse athletics.
While Samantha started working for CNY Central in September 2021, it wasn’t her first encounter with the station. In a twist of fate, she appeared on one of CNY Central’s stories produced by Melanie Johnson in October 2020. Ever since that day, she had her eyes set on working for the company, one she thought emphasized accountability, investigative journalism, and a team-first mentality—three values she has loved since she began her career in the industry. Samantha is so excited to continue her career in a place that has always felt like a second home.
When she’s not working, you can find her at the gym, or exploring Central New York—especially during the fall.
