Meteorologist Violet Scibior joined CNY Central’s Weather Authority Team in June 2021. You can watch Violet during Weekend in Central New York in the mornings on NBC3 as well as various other CNY Central newscasts during the week.
Violet grew up in Utica, NY, where her passion for weather began. Following her dreams, Violet went to SUNY Brockport for a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology and a Minor in Broadcasting. She also lived in Tampa, FL, for a few months in between college semesters for an internship at Spectrum Bay News 9.
Violet’s first job out of college was at WKTV in Utica, NY, where she worked as a Broadcast Meteorologist/MMJ for two years. Violet has experience covering Tornado Warnings, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, High Wind Warnings, Winter Storm Warnings, Blizzard Warnings, Ice Storm Warnings, Snow Squall Warnings, and many other instances of severe weather. Violet has done numerous live shots in the field during hazardous weather events, while also using 3D Augmented Reality graphics.
In her free time, Violet loves to explore the city and find the best local spots! She also loves nature and goes hiking, camping, and downhill skiing with her family. She is a figure skater and used to do it competitively. Violet also loves to dance, sing, paint, and play video games. She loves EDM, rap, and indie music. Her favorite movie genre is horror. Her favorite food is Utica Chicken Riggies!
