Victim of overnight shooting in Syracuse has died, police say
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Syracuse Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened on the 300 block of Merriman Avenue on the city's west side early Tuesday morning.
Police responded to a home on the street at 1:09 a.m. When they arrived, police found a 33-year-old man who had been shot in his hip area. Police say the man was taken to Upstate University Hospital and succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The victim of the shooting has been identified as James Smith Jr. of Syracuse.
Syracuse Police say they are looking for a suspect but do not have a description available.
